CoMoFun Transformer Chariot
When Bailey is pushed in her stroller she gets no exercise. When she is on her walker she only can last small amounts of time. We discovered that many people with disabilities do not have flexible supportive devices that can adjust with their abilities. What if we could all play, run, and walk together with flexibility? What if we could invent an adaptive fitness device that helps bring us together, instead of creating more roadblocks to our friendships?
Through our research we decided it was time for COMO FUN to develop the TRANSFORMER chariot…..A flexible, lightweight racing, and play chariot for kids with moderate disabilities.
It has a lot of real building parts like 3 different sized wheels and it is sturdier and would be able to hold a real person. Our next step was to build, but that step was huge for us. Turning our ideas to sketches was easy, but moving from sketches to a real prototype chariot, was a BIG jump for us. We needed help!
We reached out to Infento. It turns out they really liked our idea! Thanks to Google Meet we were able to meet Spencer, one of Infento’s engineers. He helped us edit, revise, and plan again. With his suggestions we came up with the final drawings. Spencer even sent us a donation of needed parts, including a motor and throttle. Thanks to Infento and Spencer we were are working on building our prototype (see progression below).
This is our Transformer Chariot. It is smaller than other chariots, so we can push Bailey and still see our full surroundings. When Bailey wants to ride like the wind she can hop into the chair (with some help) and we can push her around, when Bailey wants to get out and walk, she can simply come out and can push it with the support of these handlebars. This will allow us all to have fun with Bailey and be active.
