Running With Bailey.

We were introduced to Ainsley’s Angels in Southern California by Bailey, and they showed us all of the amazing and different chariots they provide. We worked directly with them on ways we could help spread the word of inclusion.

We were so inspired, that we decided to create a fundraiser through Facebook that would help our local ambassadorship here in Southern California. The funds raised will assist in their mission in obtaining equipment for families with special needs to participate in endurance events. We set a goal of $500 and ended up raising over $3000! Since we are too young to have Facebook pages, our parents shared pictures of us running and the donation page, and it took off!

In addition, Ainsley’s Angels in Southern California was hosting their first virtual 5K called Riding the Waves on January 30, 2021. We decided to train with Bailey. For 6 months, we met at her house twice a week and took turns pushing her in her chariot.

We know that when Bailey is happy, she claps, makes noises, and laughs. We witnessed a lot of those things on our runs and we knew she was having a great time being out with us. Due to Covid, we made sure we wore our masks and used a lot of hand sanitizer. It is not easy running with masks, but it was worth it to be able to see Bailey.

On the day of the virtual race, we met at Bailey’s house where the parents had mapped out a 5K for us. We decided we were going to run as a team and we cheered Bailey on the entire time while we took turns pushing her. She was even able to walk the last part of the race while we chanted “Let’s go Bailey”!
